One major test for scientific proof of any information or datum's reliability is its utility to the user.
If it is not useful how can anyone rely on it and why? One should base his decisions and actions on reliable, trusted sources of information
and data. A source which has been, repeatedly, providing reliable and useful information.
Information which has been proven, empirically, that is correct and useful (for instance Science and/or Mechanical Engineering require
experimental evidence, without failure, prior application).
Why in our highly sophisticated and scientific business to be different?
Reasonable questions such as;
a) Is this source of information providing me useful data on which I can ALWAYS rely my decisions without failure?
b) Have I confirmed empirically many times before their authenticity?
c) Is such information confusing or counterfeiting?
Simple questions, which sometimes in the speed of our business routines and heavy workload forget to make or answer.
Is a published fixture, reported at high levels, and pursued by an owner or broker - but repeatedly failed to match - useful or reliable?
A fixture which was reported at levels which, one, empirically, fails several times over and over again to succeed, is confusing and it is
counterfeiting to base MY fixing, present and future, decisions.
Freight levels are set by the physical market itself, in real time, and are controlled by tonnage supply/demand and micro-macro economics,
NOT by expectations or opinions!
Shipping business is different from stock markets. Shipping is a service industry NOT a money market!
